Lab 7 Reflection
Journal:
Lab 7
was an unexpected surprise. We all thought that we would most likely never even
see our labs ever again after we were done with them. This wasn’t the case however.
We had to create a home page in lab 7 that would include all the labs and
projects that we have currently. This lab was the root directory of all our
other future labs and projects. By setting up this page we could put in lab 1,
lab 2, lab 3, lab 4, lab, 5, and lab 6 all on one page. So I got busy and
started to great this home page. I went for a dark theme this time for the labs
and projects home page—lab 7—we were able to conclude that it was essential
that we did not mess up here. So what I did was go for a dark home page because
it would not foreshadow any of my other works. All of my work had a very big
twist of colors and creative font styles. I wasn’t going to let a creative homepage
really determine the surprise. It teaches the audience not to judge a book by
its cover! If the audience doesn’t look over my work it’s their fault for being
immature in the first place!
To
create the labs home page I had help form Photoshop and Illustrator. This is because
I always resort to Photoshop of Illustrator when there is a need to create graphics or
vector art of some sort. After saving the images as a png or jpeg/jpg, I
followed the prerequisites of HTML coding. Which is that HTML stands for
Hypertext Mark-up Language. From this I can deduce that this is a type of code
because, ergo, I am in Digital Design and the name itself has language in it! I
can also say that this language is used for designing a web site, so we are
going to be dealing with a lot of browsers and URL, Uniform Resource Locators.
There are also HTML tags that are used to create these websites. We might be
using Dream Weaver additionally because that's the main function of it, to
create websites. Then by using current materialistic information I used a
command known as <img src=”…..”> . The next step was to give the image a
post-secondary name, in which we label its section/ role in the HTML coding
with an alternative name, alt=”……” .Then giving that image dimensionality by
addressing both the height and the width of the image, with commands
width=”…..” and height=”……” all in the same line of coding. With this
information in mind we were able to place our images. Then linked those images
using <a href=”……”> From there we used an FTP to upload our work. FTP
stands for file transfer protocol. According to Wiki sources, "The File
Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to transfer
computer files between a client and server on a computer network. FTP is built
on client-server model architecture and uses separate control and data
connections between the client and the server." In our case we used
FileZilla to upload out content to the web!
