Project 1 Reflection Journal:

In this project we finally put together all that we knew about digital design so far. We utilized photo taking skills, Photoshoping skills, Illustrator skills, scaning and drawing skills, and the most recent addition to our skill sets, HTML skills. To create this movie project we had to choose our top 3 movies that were indeed PG-13, a restriction given by Ms. Ramirez herself. So I naturally resorted to superhero movies! Everyone loves superhero movies because they have intense and highly compact action scenes that wow the audience in the span of just a few seconds. Additionally it’s easy to include a whole list of genres with superhero moves. You cannot go wrong with superheroes movies because they fall under nearly every single category out there, for instance, action, adventure, drama, love, romance, suspense, comedy, crime, thriller, biography, war, peace, sanction, history, mystery, and even international (with different languages) The point is its impossible not to love at least 1 superhero movie. These genres are just a few of what superhero movies can really portray. So I chose my top 3 favorite PG-13 superhero movies of all time! I went with the first ever Spider-Man movie created in 2002. This is because the story line was beautifully executed. This superhero origin story is one of the classics. A young high schooler by the name Peter Parker has rather a difficult life. As the main character he deals with problems like not knowing his parents, struggling with financial support, and left jobless living in his aunt’s house. Later in the story Peter Parker attends a field trip to Oscorp's Laboratory. It also just so happens that Peter is friends with the rich playboy, whose father owns the lab, Harry Osborne son to Norman Osborne. The two have been friends since middle school and both have multiple things in common, ironically, despite the huge difference in economic status. At the lab Peter gets bitten by a spider with major genetic modifications. Soon enough he is home and collapses in his room without anyone knowing. To his surprise he has increased: reflex capabilities, running speed, strength, agility, and sight. Additionally he gained the abilities of a spider, hence the name Spider-Man with web slinging skills, the ability to scale walls and conscious environmental perception (“Spider Sense”). He uses his abilities to fight crime after his uncle's death, eventually defeating the main antagonist, Norman Osborn AKA “The Green Goblin!” The next Movie I chose was Captain America: Civil War. This movie revolves around a character named Steve Rogers also known as Captain America when political turmoil results in the Avengers having to go under the ruling of the American government. Iron Man Siding with the government leaves Captain America speechless and in awe. The two become rivals and they all end up fighting each other at one point. Major superheroes from the Avengers League battle it out in a 5 on 5 battle royale. When the dust settles however, the victors are unclear and both parties receive collateral serious damage! And finally my last movie that I put was Iron Man for the story line is about a Multi-billion dollar character named Tony Stark who is developing large weapons for the American government to use. He ends up testing these weapons overseas. However things did not go accordingly to plan. Tony Stark gets ambushed by a group of terrorists and cannot escape. They tell him to make weapons for them. So Tony Stark begins to build what appears to be an armored suit claiming that its function was being a missile. The terrorists lead by Raza began to realize this and decided to go after Tony where they had him held captive. They were in for a surprise when Tony later destroyed them as he was both bullet and flame proof. He returned home and cancelled funding the weapons creation facility he owed and began to work on a new armor that was better, stronger, and faster. He became known as, Iron Man saving people’s lives and co leading the Avengers! How I created the home page was by first making a simple HTML template in which I was going to put in all the information later. Step 2 was to find the movie posters and save the image. Step 3 was to find information about that movie. Step 4 was to place all the words in the correct spots and all the images in the right reference links. Step 5 was to create each individual summary reviews. Step 6 was to check to see if the links worked properly. And finally step 7 was to add extra visual graphics and to clean up major mistakes that might have been made. This was one of the most arduous projects that the digital design team has faced but for some reason most of it enjoyed the project, most likely because we had the freedom of choice with slight restrictions, plenty of time to submit the work on time, and the ability to utilize all of our skills into a compact yet explosive work layout design.

Lab 7 Reflection Journal:
Image result for Home page

Lab 7 was an unexpected surprise. We all thought that we would most likely never even see our labs ever again after we were done with them. This wasn’t the case however. We had to create a home page in lab 7 that would include all the labs and projects that we have currently. This lab was the root directory of all our other future labs and projects. By setting up this page we could put in lab 1, lab 2, lab 3, lab 4, lab, 5, and lab 6 all on one page. So I got busy and started to great this home page. I went for a dark theme this time for the labs and projects home page—lab 7—we were able to conclude that it was essential that we did not mess up here. So what I did was go for a dark home page because it would not foreshadow any of my other works. All of my work had a very big twist of colors and creative font styles. I wasn’t going to let a creative homepage really determine the surprise. It teaches the audience not to judge a book by its cover! If the audience doesn’t look over my work it’s their fault for being immature in the first place!

To create the labs home page I had help form Photoshop and Illustrator. This is because I always resort to Photoshop of Illustrator  when there is a need to create graphics or vector art of some sort. After saving the images as a png or jpeg/jpg, I followed the prerequisites of HTML coding. Which is that HTML stands for Hypertext Mark-up Language. From this I can deduce that this is a type of code because, ergo, I am in Digital Design and the name itself has language in it! I can also say that this language is used for designing a web site, so we are going to be dealing with a lot of browsers and URL, Uniform Resource Locators. There are also HTML tags that are used to create these websites. We might be using Dream Weaver additionally because that's the main function of it, to create websites. Then by using current materialistic information I used a command known as <img src=”…..”> . The next step was to give the image a post-secondary name, in which we label its section/ role in the HTML coding with an alternative name, alt=”……” .Then giving that image dimensionality by addressing both the height and the width of the image, with commands width=”…..” and height=”……” all in the same line of coding. With this information in mind we were able to place our images. Then linked those images using <a href=”……”> From there we used an FTP to upload our work. FTP stands for file transfer protocol. According to Wiki sources, "The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to transfer computer files between a client and server on a computer network. FTP is built on client-server model architecture and uses separate control and data connections between the client and the server." In our case we used FileZilla to upload out content to the web!

Lab 6 Reflection Journal:
Image result for Banner

In lab 6 we revisited our passed with Photoshop. To create a banner and a name plate for ourselves. This got me thinking about web design a little and brought me to this piece I wrote, “Web Design, where do I begin? My name is Thawsif Mursalin and I am a junior now in high school learning about Digital Design. But before I got to Digital Design my prerequisite class was web design. Web design was all about creativity and accuracy. The main application that we had to use was photoshop. While using photoshop most of our labs and projects were based on taking good pictures and finding clever ways to make those pictures stand out. I loved that class because you get to see yourself whenever you complete a project, like a reflection. How much work you put into it has a significant impact on what the outcome is. Even the slightest details are noticed so nothing is a wasted move. This is why I love web design, this is what web design means to me. Becoming the best version of myself.” This is what I learned from my experience last year. I was able to create a simple banner from this text that had me at a moment when I felt inspired.

Eventually what I came up with in my name plate was a blue gradient style background. One of my favorite colors to work with other than red or green because they were too controversial and to vibrant to go with just any website was blue. Blue allowed me to mold websites off the conflict of choosing colors that did not complement each other very well. Blue was friendlier to the eye and worked with a various amounts of colors. So my final decision was to go with blue. Then came my name. I chose a bold font and a whitish blue text color because that is what I thought might be my purest form. When I feel inspired white is my go to color. Finally came the extras. I decided to add in white specs to represent light or snow because of the way light or snow falls down to Earth in a seemingly and heavenly bliss. The next extra was adding a lightning symbol to represent my speed, agility, and dexterity. And finally a lightbulb to show my devotion to apprehensive thinking. Also the lightbulb complemented the lightning, converting creative light and harnessing that energy so that it may not dissipate but instead be renewed once more. Essentially symbolizing a second chance of renewal

Lab 5 Reflection Journal:

Lab 5 was another fun lab for me because it was also highly color oriented, just as lab 4 was with the color chart. This lab was interesting because we got to use a bunch of new HTML codes and tags but first the prerequisites we were supposed to know is that HTML stands for Hypertext Mark-up Language. Additionally we had to know about the commands for the chart commands <td> and <th>.  <td> to set the borders, colors, and sections, and the <th> command for the rows and category specific items. Then we created a whole new chart built off the shell of lab 4. But this time the requirements were as follows, given to us by Ms. Ramirez herself, “students will build in previous knowledge to create:
1) a html page for lab 8.
2) create a table with 2 rows/ 6 columns
3) create unordered list of favorite foods
4) create ordered list of favorite movies
5) create unordered multilevel list of favorite school subjects
6 )create ordered multilevel list of least favorite school subjects
7 )create unordered multilevel list of favorite music
8) create unordered 3 multilevel list of grocery shopping list”

So this lab ended up on a positive note for me because I got a good grade. I was able to meet all of the requirements however my text was a little light for the eye. The text needed to be a darker color but otherwise it was all fine. I choose a color scheme of purple gradually changing into pink. I thought this would complement my blue chart borders and the lime green background of my webpage but instead it did not work out as planned. It ended up too light. Nonetheless it looks amazing overall. The final thing we learned was that we made ordered and unordered lists with specific HTML tags <ol> and <ul>. From there we used an FTP to upload our work.

Lab 4 Reflection Journal:
Lab 4 was so far my personal favorite out of all the labs we have done thus far. In this lab we worked with several different colors. I am a fan of anything that is colorful because to me it gives me the feeling of a robust and visually satisfying too look at scene. On top of that I feel that creativity and usage of colors go hand in hand quite drastically. The only stark difference is that for me shades would also go under this category as creative as well. In this lab we had to create a chart. This lab comprised of, an html page for lab 4, a table of 16 rows and 3 columns, and a display of the the color name, hexadecimal number and hue. The colors that I was given were, accordingly and respectively from the teacher, “SALMON, BLUEVIOLET, AQUAMARINE, SIENNA, ORCHID, TEAL, GOLDENROD”. On top of that we had to select other colors that would add up to a total of fifteen different colors. I choose, “Reef, Golden Poppy, Outrageous Orang, Crimson, Disco, Pompadour, De York, and Dark Cerulean.” The Hexadecimals were as follows: #DAF7A6, #FFC300, #FF5733, #C70039, #900C3F, #581845, #8CDA80,  and #163D72, in that order. We also learned a new command the chart commands <td> and <th>.  <td> to set the borders, colors, and sections, and the <th> command for the rows and category specific items.

By using the center format we can place objects in the middle of a webpage. The command to set up a center format is <center>. Anything on the same line or below this text, <center>, will be placed in the middle of the webpage. From there we used an FTP to upload our work. All in all this was a fun lab and I enjoyed it because of the different colors and appreciated that we had the freedom to choose our own colors, which I did so at random hoping that I would learn about color schemes, which I did!

Lab 3 Reflection Journal:
Image result for Hyperlinks                Lab 3 focused on hyperlinking. Hyperlinking is a method that involves using some sort of reference text for an image, button, or even hypertext. The user can simply click the object of the hyperlink and get redirected to the referenced hyperlink that allows you to access a different web page. Prerequisites we were supposed to know is that HTML stands for Hypertext Mark-up Language. The new material we learned was placing images. We already know how to put different heading types and paragraphs. The next segment was using a command known as <img src=”…..”> .

By using the center format we can place objects in the middle of a webpage. The command to set up a center format is <center>. Anything on the same line or below this text, <center>, will be placed in the middle of the webpage. The images came from screen shots that we took in class on the mac using the command+shift+4 keys. The next thing we did was open up different websites. The web sites we used were as follows: http://techteach.us/, http://tmursalinvd.blogspot.com/, and http://www.w3schools.com/. Then by using the command known as, <a href=”……” > we were able to attack hyperlinks. We still need the pictures so we used the <img src=”….”> Command to place them all in one area, in the center. Finally all we did was place down a Text stating what the hyperlink leads to. From there we used an FTP to upload our work.

Image result for SMART GOALS
Lab 2 was essentially the introduction to HTML coding. All we had to do is remember how to start an HTML code. Prerequisites we were supposed to know is that HTML stands for Hypertext Mark-up Language. The next step was to give the image a post-secondary name, in which we label its section/ role in the HTML coding with an alternative name, alt=”……” .Then giving that image dimensionality by addressing both the height and the width of the image, with commands width=”…..” and height=”……” all in the same line of coding. With this information in mind we were able to place an image. The second thing we learned was using the center format.

By using the center format we can place objects in the middle of a webpage. The command to set up a center format is <center>. Anything on the same line or below this text, <center>, will be placed in the middle of the webpage. Specifically the images were in the center. One last thing we did was to create smart goals. This was only specific towards lab 2 however. My Smart goals happened to be, “Goal 1: Maintaining a 90 Grade Point Average or higher, Goal 2: Setting a good example to the sophomores and people in my class, Goal 3: Becoming proficiently adept with coding, and lastly, Bonus Goal: NOT FREEZING TO DEATH!” These goals were alright but could be developed forward more. From there we used an FTP to upload our work. I choose those smart goals because I want to be a model student, however this isn’t exactly working out for me as well as I had hoped.
